Red pill or blue pill

There are several movies that revolve around taking a pill with life changing events happening afterwards. Entertaining I suppose but what if that was real.

If you could take a pill to decrease your mortality rate (death risk) by 18%, without ANY side effects, would you do it? Of course you would! Why wouldn't you?

But many of you have that pill sitting in front of you and are choosing not to take it. Now, of course I am being metaphorical. It takes 2 seconds to take a pill and what is sitting in front of you takes 22 minutes of your time. But study after study shows the benefits of exercise compared to those who don't exercise. 18% decreased risk of death from all causes compared to those who don't work out. That's 22 minutes a day at high intensity or 43 minutes at moderate intensity. (Goal: 150 minutes of high intensity - 300 minutes of moderate intensity a week - or a combo)

What does that exercise look like? It doesn't matter- just getting up and moving showed improved benefit compared to those who were in active. But the higher you can get your heart rate, the better. If you have more questions on that, go check out my other blogs.

The goal is to improve where you land on the wellness continuum. See below

Most people live somewhere between sickness and wellness. But we would see a lot less pain and injury as well on the other side of wellness working towards fitness.

42.4% of US citizens are obese.

6 in 10 adults in the US have a chronic disease

4 in 10 have 2 or more

We need to establish exercise as one of the pillars of our life. What does this have to do with physical therapy? Everything! Most clinical practice guidelines for PTs and medical doctors list exercise as a very effective treatment in musculoskeletal (your body) injuries! Exercise helps heal but it also helps with many other things.

  1. weight loss and weight management

  2. decrease in overall chronic diseases and symptoms associated with it

  3. decrease in death risk

  4. decrease in pain especially chronic pain conditions

  5. improved sleep quality

  6. improved mood

  7. decrease in overall pain levels and chemicals that promote pain in the body

  8. improved fitness- life gets easier!

Body Fix 180 will treat you as a whole human being, not just the one body part. Because it is your whole being that leads to injury and pain in that one area. Find a solution to the problem, not a treatment to the symptom.
